Theoretical foundations
While the existence of “visual learners” and the value of attempting to cater to different learning styles continues to be debated, the value of invoking multiple modalities in learning is clear. By invoking visual and narrative associations, Storybird promotes greater retention than your typical sentence writing exercise, while also promoting an outlet for personal expression. This is why I chose to demonstrate a vocabulary based lesson in my Storybird tutorial.
